Māori graduates

Māori graduates

This is graduation day at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, a Māori university established in 1991 by Ngāti Awa of the Bay of Plenty. In 2009 the wānanga also had outreach sites in Auckland and Wellington. Māori-focused tertiary institutes such as this are contributing to the sharp increase in the number of Māori with tertiary qualifications.
