These Auckland rest-home workers are celebrating a successful campaign to win back pay from their employers after the government ordered a pay rise for them in 2007. One of them, Rosaria Hayes, says, ‘We love our work with residents and they need the best quality care.’ Service workers like these are both the largest and the fastest growing sector of the workforce.
