Paramedics at work

St John advanced-care paramedic Andrew McLellan (crouching at left) begins to help Philip Somerville, who had his pelvis broken in a boating accident on the shore of Lake Wānaka, Otago, in 2008. Another paramedic, Ian Ridley (right), prepares a stretcher. After emergency treatment from the paramedics, which included a dose of morphine, Somerville was flown by the Otago regional rescue helicopter to Dunedin Hospital.
