In 2008 Onehunga High School teacher Nathan Kerr and students Katie Hirst (right) and Hale Faiumu worked out how students could receive interactive study notes on their mobile phones. The trio were part of a worldwide trend toward multi-purpose mobiles. By mid-2005, 62% of New Zealanders’ mobile phones had internet access, allowing email and browsing. Internationally, 53% of mobiles had internet access.
