Story: Economy and the environment

Grahame Sydney

Grahame Sydney

Central Otago artist Grahame Sydney holds up a poster of one of his paintings, which he has defaced with wind turbines on ridgelines. He produced 1,000 copies of this poster to help raise funds to fight Meridian Energy’s plans to build 176 wind turbines on the Lammermoor Range. Sustainable power generation methods such as wind farms still have environmental effects – such as visual impacts on the landscape.
