Story: Rural clothing

Lace-up front (3rd of 5)

Lace-up front

In 1927 the Swanndri woollen shirt was re-designed to incorporate a hood, lace-up front and long sleeves. This faded Swanndri has the name John Mack on the label, so it probably dates from the mid-1960s or early 1970s – John Mack Limited produced a wide variety of clothing under the Swanndri label from 1964 until 1975 when Alliance Textiles of Timaru bought the trademark.
