Aware of their ‘carbon footprint’, some taxi companies make a point of being eco-friendly and using hybrid cars. Green Cabs began operating in late 2007 in Wellington and Auckland, moving into the Christchurch market in mid-2008. The company uses Toyota Prius hybrid cars.
