In 1960 an Auckland company began importing partially unassembled Czechoslovakian scooters. At the time import restrictions meant that 30% of the machines had to be ‘New Zealand content’. In the assembly plant they were painted and fitted with Dunlop tyres and tubes, batteries, wiring looms, seat covers and foam seat inserts, battery holding boxes, mufflers and exhaust pipes. Production ceased in 1963, and today these machines are sought after by collectors.
