Eve – before and after

Eve – before and after

The story of Eve, a one-year old ridgeback, is typical of some of the appalling animal cruelty cases handled by New Zealand branches of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) every year. She was brought into the Auckland SPCA on Christmas Eve 2007, after being deliberately locked under a house for about five weeks without food or water. She was nearly dead from starvation and dehydration (top), but with careful nursing bounced back to full health (bottom).
