Story: Trees in the rural landscape

Covenanted land (1st of 2)

Covenanted land

This 52-hectare regenerating kānuka–kōwhai forest alongside the Mangaone River, in Hawke’s Bay, is now under a protective covenant with the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust. Previously, it had been unfenced and stock could graze young seedlings and saplings.
