Autumn colours, Central Otago

Deciduous trees from the northern hemisphere develop intense leaf colours in Central Otago’s cold dry autumns. These poplars (golden orange), at Butchers Dam, south of Alexandra, have started losing their green colour before the willows (light green – centre).
