A Southland farm offers people the opportunity to adopt a sheep and learn more about New Zealand farming life. Here a child cuddles one such sheep, which has had its wool painted to make it a more appealing adoptee. Similar schemes were first tried in the 1980s, when Japanese tourists were targeted.
