Importing alpacas

Importing alpacas

The importation of alpacas from Chile involved strict quarantine procedures, both before they left, and after they arrived in New Zealand. This shipment of alpacas arrived by air in Wellington in the mid 1980s, and they are in the process of being transferred to Somes Island Quarantine Station in Wellington harbour.
