Hedgehog

All hedgehog species liberated in New Zealand came from Britain. Despite having only dogs as predators, hedgehogs spread very slowly. They were initially introduced to remind settlers of home, but were widely distributed once they became regarded as natural predators of invertebrate garden pests.
