Topdressing trials

This modified Second World War Grumman Avenger is spreading superphosphate fertiliser at Ōhakea, probably in 1948. This was one of the early trials of aerial topdressing carried out in New Zealand. The experiments proved highly successful and aerial topdressing was perhaps the most important breakthrough in New Zealand hill country farming.
