Something unheard of in earlier times was an injured cow receiving surgical treatment. Usually they were killed and disposed of on the farm, or sent to the freezing works for slaughter. Now cows are so expensive, surgery is worth considering. This cow is having a bone fragment removed from her front leg at Massey University.
