Story: Rural workers

Tinker (1st of 3)

Tinker

Tinkers were metalsmiths who travelled the roads selling their repair services to farming families. This tinker is fixing a milk strainer, watched by farmers’ children from the Pohangina River valley, in the Manawatū. The tinker’s soldering irons are in the small furnace on the right.
