This orchard is in Kaimai, in the Bay of Plenty, where the near frost-free climate and free-draining soils are ideal for avocado production. The industry is rapidly expanding. Trees are sheltered from wind and frost for the first few years, and the fruit can be gathered commercially after about three years.
