Response to fertiliser

An early trial at the Department of Agriculture’s Moumāhaki Demonstration Farm near Waverley, Taranaki, shows the importance of superphosphate fertiliser to the growth of kūmara (sweet potato). Kūmara from the plot without fertiliser (left) are much smaller than the fertilised crops.
