The safe and economical disposal of household waste is a continuing problem in New Zealand. A number of city councils now compost plant waste and resell it. Smaller centres do not have this facility, and plants are mixed up with general rubbish. Weeds of all descriptions comprise a large proportion of the plant matter to be disposed of, and of the associated costs.
