Queen Street makeover

Queen Street makeover

The Auckland University of Technology has met the rising demand for space by redeveloping its central city site and acquiring nearby buildings, including this one on Queen Street. The nīkau palms are part of a group of 47 shipped from the West Coast and Taranaki and transplanted along the street in 2007. The scheme was controversial because much-loved London plane trees and other exotic trees had to be felled.
