Mazuran’s wines (1st of 2)

Mazuran’s wines

Antony Hladilo stands beside the tasting counter at Mazuran’s winery in 2007. Antony is related to the founder of the winery, George Mazuran, who migrated to New Zealand from Croatia in 1926. In 1938 George set up Mazuran Wines in Henderson. Like other West Auckland wineries, it focused on fortified wine – sherry and port – rather than premium table wine. But while most other wineries switched to table wine in the 1980s and 1990s, Mazuran continued to produce fortified wines.
