Citrus orchards, Kerikeri, 1947

Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands is renowned for its citrus orchards, established in the late 1920s by the North Auckland Land Development Corporation. Oranges, grapefruit and lemons thrived in the warm temperate climate of the far north, protected from the wind by shelter belts.
