Honey comes in a variety of colours and consistencies, depending mainly on the flower source. Mānuka honey is becoming increasingly popular because of its health benefits. An ancient honey product is mead, reputed to be the first alcoholic drink brewed by humans, and a favourite of the Greek gods on Mt Olympus. One of the newest bee products is royal jelly, which helps the queen bee to live 50–70 times longer than worker bees. Its promoters claim it supports the body's immune system to help combat the effects of ageing and stress.
