Stud Freisian bull

Stud Freisian bull

This photograph shows champion stud Freisian bull Aurora Donor Favour, owned by Ambreed New Zealand. Semen from such bulls is collected, diluted and used to inseminate a large number of cows – and efficient way of using good genetic material for breeding. Each bull is rated on the milk production of his daughters, as well as a number of other characteristics, including behaviour. In August 2008 Aurora was eight years old and had 93 daughters.
