Granulated superphosphate fertiliser is inspected as it is fed into a one-tonne bag. About 90% of superphosphate is transported to ground-spread depots and hill-country bins for aerial topdressing. About 8% is put into one-tonne bags for helicopter operators, orchardists, market gardeners and small-scale farmers who apply their own fertiliser. A small proportion leaves the fertiliser works in 40-kilogram bags for use in gardens or on lifestyle blocks.
