Lake Taupō

Lake Taupō is one of New Zealand’s premium tourist and recreational facilities, used for fishing, boating and swimming. But there are increasing concentrations of nitrate (mainly from the urine of grazing animals) in the lake water, and a major research and management programme aims to correct this trend.
