One of the largest surviving kauri trees is the McKinney kauri, growing on the edge of regenerating bush at Warkworth, north of Auckland. Named after Warkworth's first Presbyterian minister, the tree is 38.1 metres tall and has a trunk 7.6 metres in circumference. It is between 800 and 900 years old.
