Tamil harvest festival celebration, 1989

A rich pudding incorporating the first rice of the season is prepared as part of the traditional Tamil harvest festival celebration. Here children of the Wellington Tamil community, which includes Sri Lankan, Indian, Malaysian and South African Tamils, look on as the pudding overflows from its pot, a sign of prosperity.
