Flax fibre surfboard

Flax fibre surfboard

This mini prototype surfboard is made of New Zealand flax fibre combined with synthetic fibre. The biomaterials engineering unit at Scion in Rotorua has trialled blending flax fibre with natural and synthetic elements. The aim is to create a strong material that can be used to make a range of products.
