Tourist tram, 2006

Christchurch had the most extensive tram system in New Zealand, but it became uneconomic to operate and trams were replaced with diesel buses by the mid-1950s. Some historic trams have been restored as tourist attractions, and run on an inner-city circuit. This service has been reinstated following the 2011 earthquake.
