Story: Tramping

Bungaree Hut, Stewart Island (6th of 6)

Bungaree Hut, Stewart Island

Bungaree Hut is on the North-West Circuit track in Rakiura National Park, on Stewart Island. With 16 bunks, it has mattresses, a water supply and a pot-belly stove. In 2007 it cost $5 to spend a night in the hut. Tramping etiquette requires visitors to leave huts clean and tidy for the next occupants. All rubbish must be carried out.
