Story: Light

‘Nikau vases’

‘Nikau vases’

Ann Robinson is an Auckland artist who has developed a technique for casting glass in wax moulds. She says that the pieces reflect her Pacific environment, and that she attempts to capture the beauty of the country’s natural light through the use of glass. In an artist's statement she has said that, ‘Visitors to New Zealand comment on the sharp clear quality of light here. The New Zealand light is reflected in my work’.
