Pukekura Park in New Plymouth has long been one of New Zealand’s best-known green spaces. It features on this ashtray, produced by Royal Grafton of England in the 1950s. When the park was created in 1875 it was largely treeless, but replanting has resulted in an attractive tree-filled space overlooked by Mt Taranaki (Mt Egmont).
