Iwi (tribal) identification

In New Zealand censuses since 1991, residents of Māori or Moriori descent have been asked to indicate the tribe or tribes to which they are affiliated. The figures below show the number who named Moriori, and the regions where they were found in the greatest numbers in 2013.

The only previous census asking Māori or Moriori to indicate (a single) tribal affiliation was that of 1901.
