Ladi6 (Karoline Tamati), first known as a breakdancer in her mid-teens, formed Sheelahroc with her cousin Tyra Hammond and Sarah Tamaira in 1999–2000. The group combined all the elements of hip hop – breaking, mc-ing, graffiti art and turntablism. Ladi6 would later form her own group (also known as Ladi6). She was one of a hip hop family – an early version of Sheelahroc was formed by two of her older sisters, and Scribe (Malo Luafutu) is a cousin. They were part of a Christchurch music scene that thrived in the 1990s and 2000s. Here she performs her song 'Walk right up'.
