Story: Place names

Cuba Street

Cuba Street, Wellington, owes its name to an emigrant ship, not to the island from which the ship took its name. In the early 2000s cafes and bars (some now closed) sprang up that traded on a Caribbean theme and contributed to the ambience of the street and its environs.
