The most likely way a hunter will lose his life is by being mistakenly shot by a companion. Safety campaigns (‘Always identify your target’) have been running for decades, yet these accidents continue to occur. In 2006 the Mountain Safety Council produced postcards that illustrated how easy it is to mistake a person for a deer, especially in poor light in the bush.
