Ethnic identity

In the New Zealand census, people were asked to indicate the ethnic group or groups with which they identified. The numbers include those who indicated more than one group.

  • Greek (including Greek Cypriot): 2,355 (2006); 2,478 (2013); 2,475 (2018)

Country of birth

The New Zealand census figures listed here show the number of residents born in Greece. Many New Zealand Greeks were born in countries other than Greece.

  • 2001 census: 942
  • 2006 census: 960
