Research conducted by Creative New Zealand in 2011 found that young people aged 15–29 (top graph) were much more actively involved in making or presenting art than other age groups. The same year, the types of arts activities, outside school, of children aged 10–14 were measured (bottom graph). Visual arts were by far the most popular – 85% of children were involved in some form of visual art in their own time that year.
