These graphs show the devices that internet users employed to connect to the web over the previous year, and which devices they had in their household. The figures come from the World Internet Project survey 2013. Respondents could answer 'yes' for more than one device. A striking finding was the very high level of access from smartphones and tablets. In the previous survey, in 2011, only 27% of users were accessing the internet on handheld devices (meaning both phones and tablets). Two years later the number using smartphones was approaching the number of those who were using desktop computers.
