Railways publicity: the Chateau

The Chateau hotel was built on the lower slopes of Mt Ruapehu in 1929 and was easily accessed via the nearby main trunk line. This poster was produced around 1932. Curiously, it includes a smoking Mt Ngāuruhoe in the background – an unusual tourist attraction for the more daring perhaps.
