This is the front cover of the first issue of Te Kaunihera Maori, the New Zealand Māori Council journal. In it local politician Turi Carroll is shown below a photograph of his famous uncle, Sir James Carroll. The New Zealand Māori Council, sponsor of the journal, has played a key role in national representation of Māori for over 50 years.
