Early detection improves chances of surviving cervical cancer, and the drop in deaths from the late 1980s is partly attributed to the national screening programme. But barely half of Pacific Island women used the screening programme – some of the barriers included embarrassment, cost, and not knowing what to expect. Their use of cervical screening jumped by 13% when a targeted campaign was run in 2007. This poster was part of the campaign.
