Celebrating community service

Celebrating community service

A booklet produced in 1947 celebrates 25 years of the Self Help grocery stores established by Benjamin Sutherland. The success of the stores, which introduced the idea of self-help grocery shopping to New Zealand retailing, enabled the establishment of the Self Help Trust in 1941. The trust distributed annual grants to deserving causes.
