Safer sex poster, 1988

Safer sex poster, 1988

This 1988 Department of Health poster recommends condom use to prevent transmission of AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). The advent of HIV/AIDS in the 1980s helped to bring about greater use of condoms in New Zealand. It also raised awareness of condoms as the only form of contraception that also protects against sexually transmitted infections.
