The New Zealand Prisoners' Aid and Rehabilitation Society (NZPARS) was formed in 1959 to coordinate the efforts of many prisoner-support organisations in different parts of the country. In the 1980s NZPARS was challenged to respond to the needs of Māori, who were increasingly represented in the prison population. This poster, probably from the late 1980s, includes a heading in Māori, symbolising NZPARS's commitment to support both Māori and non-Māori prisoners and their families. The poster shows a male inmate thinking about his female partner and child. Behind him is the 19th-century entrance to Mt Eden Prison.
