Story: Taxes

Anti-prohibition poster, 1919 (2nd of 2)

Anti-prohibition poster, 1919

Picturing a teetotaler pouring a cup of tea, this anti-prohibition poster points out the fact that making alcohol illegal would see the government lose £1,500,000 a year (around $134 million in 2008). Political lobby groups often use tax takes to illustrate their points, but they don’t often advocate the retention of taxes.
