Lyttelton Arms Hotel advertisement (1st of 3)

Lyttelton Arms Hotel advertisement

In New Zealand, hotels and the consumption of alcohol have long gone hand in hand. This 1852 advertisement for a hotel in Lyttelton is quite vague in its description of accommodation ‘comforts’ and ‘conveniences’, but devotes a good deal of space to its ‘stock’ – the wide variety of alcoholic drinks available from the bar.
