Tourist hotels

Building hotels for tourists helped some commercial skifields grow. The Hermitage at Aoraki/Mt Cook and Chateau Tongariro at Mt Ruapehu were two early examples. This poster promoting rail travel recommends both hotels as destinations for people taking part in winter sports.
